It is a mercaptosilane, named by the Institute of Chemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and commonly used in China as KH-590, which has a sulfhydryl functional group and three hydrolyzable methoxyl groups in its molecular structure, and the sulfhydryl group, as a sulfur-containing functional group, can participate in the vulcanization process of sulfur vulcanized rubber, while there is an active hydrogen on the sulfhydryl group, so it can also be used for capping modification of isocyanates. This dual reactivity allows it to improve the bonding, adhesion and compatibility between inorganic materials (glass, metals, fillers) and organic polymers (thermosetting resins, plastics, elastomers) through bi-directional chemical reactions, thereby improving the mechanical properties of resin-based composites or enhancing the bond strength and water resistance of resin coatings. In different applications, it can be used as coupling agent, adhesion promoter, cross-linking agent, surface modifier of color filler, and capping monomer of polyurethane, etc.

CFS-740 Cas 4420-74-0 is a trimethoxysilane, which hydrolyzes significantly faster than triethoxysilane, providing faster reaction and curing speed, but its hydrolysis reaction has methanol as a side reactant, which is slightly less environmentally friendly. Triethoxysilane has a slower hydrolysis rate and the by-product of the hydrolysis reaction is ethanol.


CFS-740 Cas 4420-74-0 is especially suitable for all kinds of sulfur yellow vulcanization and metal oxide vulcanization system of rubber, can significantly improve the inorganic filler (white carbon black, kaolin, aluminum hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide, talc, etc.) to enhance the mechanical strength of rubber (especially 300% of the fixed extension stress and tear strength), significantly reduce fatigue heat generation, permanent deformation and wear, and can improve its processing rheology, especially in the light-colored rubber products. This product can be used to pretreat the mineral filler, and can also be added together with the rubber compounding.

This product can replace polysulfosilane in the formulations of low rolling resistance green energy-saving tires, rubber shoe outsoles, rubber rollers, light-colored rubber conveyor belts and rubber cables, etc. The same performance can be achieved with only a small amount. When making this substitution, the amount of accelerator in the formulation should be reduced appropriately and the amount of sulfur feeder should be increased.

CFS-740 Cas 4420-74-0 can be used as a bonding accelerator in polyurethane and polysulfide adhesive sealant formulations, and can also be used to modify the end of isocyanate, giving polyurethane sealants with moisture vapor curing properties and excellent adhesion and weather resistance.
