Long-chain Silanes

Co-Formula has successfully synthesized a series of long-chain functional silanes including octyl(C8), dodecyl(C12) and octadecyl(C18) silanes. Long-chain functional silanes have superior hydrophobicity and they are mostly used as water scavengers. They can also act as surface modifiers and reducing agents, especially for the treatment of micro and nanoparticles or mineral fillers and pigments.

Functions & Applications of Long-chain Silanes

Long-chain organofunctional silanes at Co-Formula have gained great reputation in construction industry. Such long-chain silanes can be used in the formulation of water repellent products when diluted with an appropriate solvent. Under proper application, the formulated product will penetrate and provide water repellency by chemically reacting with the cementitious substrate. Treated substrates are hydrophobic and retain their original appearance.CFS-751, Octyltriethoxysilane with Cas No. 2943-75-1 is the most common hydrophobing agent in the market. Acting as a surface modifier and a protecting agent, it can generate hydrophobicity on concrete, ceramic and glasses. Better waterproofing property can be achieved with the presence of CFS-751.

Among these silanes, CFS-088, Octadecyldimethylchlorosilane with Cas No. 18643-08-8 is warmly welcomed during the preparation of reversed-phase C18 chromatographic columns (ODS). CFS-088 has been synthesized for micro and nanoparticles derivatization, silica modification and molecular monolayers generation. Silica treated with C18 based on ODS column can enhance durability and bring excellent performance.
