Coupling agents can be modified for fillers, the most widely used concentrated coupling agents are: silane coupling agents, titanate coupling agents, aluminate coupling agents and other types of coupling agents, so we choose coupling agents for different fillers to choose the corresponding coupling agent.

Different fillers, coupling effect varies greatly, therefore, the editor will coupling agent selection and use methods - applicable filler type is introduced as follows.

1. Applicable fillers of silane coupling agent

Silane coupling agent for silicon dioxide, aluminum trioxide, glass fiber, clay, silicate, silicon carbide, etc. has a significant effect on talc, clay, aluminum hydroxide, wollastonite, iron powder, alumina, etc. slightly less effective, asbestos, titanium dioxide, iron trioxide, etc. less effective, calcium carbonate, graphite, carbon black, barium sulfate, calcium sulfate, etc. very little effect. The surface of the filler with silanol group, silane coupling agent coupling effect is large, but for calcium, magnesium, barium carbonate, sulfate, sulfite, etc., the coupling effect of silane coupling agent is less obvious. If the silica hydrosol is used to treat the surface of the filler particles without silanol group, and then use silane coupling agent, this will produce a better coupling effect, this processing method is known as the double coating method.

2. Suitable fillers for titanate coupling agents

Titanate coupling agent and aluminate coupling agent can deal with the surface of the filler, but the effect of processing each has a certain target. Titanate coupling agent processing effect is relatively good filler calcium carbonate, barium sulfate, calcium sulfate, calcium sulfite, aluminum hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide, calcium silicate, aluminum silicate, titanium dioxide, asbestos, aluminum oxide, ferric oxide, lead oxide, ferrite, etc.; processing effect is slightly less filler mica, silica, magnesium oxide, calcium oxide, etc.; processing effect is less filler talc, carbon black, wood powder.
