Co-Formula offerings mainly perform as silane coupling agents, adhesion promoters, surface modifiers, hydrophobing agents, silane crosslinking agents, resin additives, curing agents, surface protective agents, dispersing agents, terminating agents, pharmaceutical intermediates, silylation reagents, allylation agents, electron donors, finishing agents, softening agents, paint additives, coating auxiliaries, plastic additives, water scavengers and cosmetics additives.

1. Adhesives & Sealant

Co-Formula silane coupling agents are mainly used in adhesives and sealants as coupling agents, tackifiers, surface modifiers, crosslinking agents, water scavengers and terminating agents, which can bring the following characteristics:

  • Reduce viscosity, improve dispersion and processability of inorganic fillers

  • Improve adhesion and compatibility between organic resins and inorganic substrates

  • Increase dry and wet strength and bond durability of substrates

  • Prevent premature rubber vulcanization and improve product storage stability

  • Increase the uniformity of vulcanization

  • Increase elongation at break

Amino alkoxysilane, epoxy and mercapto functional silanes can be applied to most resin systems. With their presence, excellent bonding can be formed on metals, glass and resins. These silanes are the most commonly used coupling agents for the condensation silicone sealants and adhesives.

Most silane coupling agents can be used for the surface treatment of inorganic fillers. Co-Formula also provides dispersing agent for various fillers and pigments. Inorganic fillers and pigments treated by Co-Formula products have better dispersibility in adhesives and sealant system.

2. Paints & Coatings

Co-Formula silane are playing the following roles in paints and coatings.

  • Improve adhesion of organic polymers on inorganic substrates

  • Improve water resistance, weatherability and abrasion resistance of coatings and substrates

  • Improve compatibility and dispersion of organic resins and inorganic pigments and fillers

  • Improve cross-linking properties of resin systems

  • Improve the hardness of coating surface

Co-Formula silane coupling agents can be used as primers and tackifiers in coating industry. The main function of the primer is to increase the bond between the resin coating and the protected substrate. The main component of the primer is silane coupling agent, which can be combined with a certain film forming agent, catalyst and pigments. The bottom coating is made by solvent dilution, which is formed by solvent evaporation and hydrolysis and condensation of water in the air. Silane coupling agent should be decided according to the type of resin and the type of protected substrate.

3. Wires, Cables & Pipes

Silane coupling agent is mainly used as crosslinking agent and tackifier in wires, cables and pipes, which endows the materials with the following properties:

  • Enhance thermal deformation stability and mechanical strength of modified materials

  • Improve wet electrical properties of modified materials

  • Improve chemical resistance of modified materials

  • Increase filler addition and improving processability

Different silane coupling agent can be applied according to the material and requirement of modified cable system. The cable materials suitable for modification with silane coupling agents are mainly polyolefin and elastomer polymers.

Vinyl silane coupling agent is the most commonly used crosslinking agents for polyolefin materials, because they can be grafted with polyolefin or copolymerized with olefin at higher temperature and initiator action. The alkoxy functional groups on silanes can undergo intermolecular condensation reaction after hydrolysis in wet environment and polyolefin crosslinking.

4. Chemical Synthesis

Co-Formula provides a series of chloro silanes and silane intermediates which can be used for the synthesis of a wide variety of silane coupling agents, silicone fluids, silicone resins, silicone rubbers and other chemical compounds. These functional silanes normally serve as basic materials, silylation reagents, allylation reagents, electronic donors or terminating agents. These offerings have gained great reputation in the market of chemical synthesis.
