Amino silane coupling agents are mainly used for glass fiber reinforced plastics. Siloxy are reactive to inorganic substances, and organic functional groups are reactive or compatible to organic substances. Therefore, when the amino silane coupling agent is between the inorganic and organic interface, it can form a bonding layer of organic matrix-aminosilane coupling agent-inorganic matrix.

The use of amino silane coupling agents can be roughly summarized into three aspects.

1. Appearance treatment

It can improve the bonding function of glass fibers and resins, and greatly improve the strength, electricity, water resistance, weather resistance and other functions of glass fiber reinforced composite materials. Even in the wet condition, it has a great significant effect on the improvement of the mechanical functions of composite materials. The use of amino silane coupling agents in glass fibers has been appropriately widespread, and the amino silane coupling agent used in this aspect account for about 50% of the total consumption.

2. Plastic fillment

The filler can be pre-treated for appearance or directly added to the resin. It can improve the dispersion and adhesion of the filler in the resin, improve the compatibility between the inorganic filler and the resin, improve the process function and improve the mechanical, electrical and weather resistance functions of the filled plastic (including rubber).

3. Used as the sealant, adhesive and paint thickener

It can improve their bonding strength, water resistance, weather resistance and other functions.

The principle of the effect of amino alkoxysilane coupling agent as a tackifier is that it has two groups; one group can be combined with the skeleton materials; and the other group can be combined with polymer materials or adhesives, thereby forming a stronger chemical bond at the bonding interface, greatly improving the bonding strength.
